New Construction Project to Begin in Summer 2019
The existing aboveground storage reservoir at Hauck Mesa in Valley Center will be replaced to provide treated water storage along the First Aqueduct. The new storage reservoir will enhance the Water Authority’s ability to provide reliable and efficient deliveries of treated water to member agencies in the vicinity of Valley Center.
About This Project
This project consists of a new, above-ground water tank with associated valves and metering connecting the tank to existing pipelines. The new tank will better control flows to prevent the First Aqueduct from draining during unanticipated shutdowns of the Valley Center Pump Station and protect existing pipelines from extreme pressure fluctuations. The new tank will also serve other project operational needs.
The existing storage reservoir has reached the end of its service life and is no longer in operation. The replacement storage tank will meet volume and elevation requirements to allow the water to flow by gravity.
Construction access and delivery of materials will occur via Lavender Point and private access roads. The work will not interrupt water service to nearby homes and businesses.
