Water Service Restored to Ramona; Do-Not-Drink Order Remains in Effect

Water service has been restored to all residential and commercial meters in the Ramona Municipal Water District, but the community remains under a state Department of Public Health “do not drink” order.
Water testing is currently being conducted throughout the Ramona water system to meet public health requirements. The state Department of Public Health requires two consecutive clean tests in a 48-hour period before the do-not-drink order can be lifted.
The do-not-drink order advises bottled water use for the following until further notice:
- All drinking (including baby formula and juice)
- Brushing teeth
- Washing dishes
- Making ice and food preparation
The do-not-drink order does allow Ramona Municipal Water District water to be used for toilets, bathing and washing hands. Do not consume or gargle water during bathing. For more water advisory information visit www.sdcountyrecovery.com or call 211.
SDG&E also has restored full power to the Ramona Pump Station, and the Ramona Municipal Water District now has enough water delivery capacity to lift restrictions on outdoor water use.
More than 100 operations, mechanical and other support staff from the Ramona Municipal Water District, the Water Authority and retail water agencies around the region worked through the weekend to restore water service to the Ramona community.
Agencies that responded to the Ramona Municipal Water District’s call for mutual aid assistance include the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Sweetwater Authority, City of San Diego, Helix Water District, Padre Dam Municipal Water District, Vallecitos Water District, Vista Irrigation District, Otay Water District, Valley Center Municipal Water District, City of Poway, Olivenhain Municipal Water District, Santa Fe Irrigation District, Rincon Del Diablo Municipal Water District and San Dieguito Water District.

A boil water notice was lifted today for the Rainbow Municipal Water District. Yuima Municipal Water District is under a boil water notice and is the only other water agency with an advisory in effect in the Water Authority’s service area.
